DAM Group Residency Show
Theme: Brainwaves
The DAM Residency was conceived not only to provide visibility, but also to foster support, connection, and collaboration within the art community. The first Group Residency Show, held on October 20, 2024, was presented in partnership with JRNY Gallery in Las Vegas, NV—a key player in the digital art and Web3 landscape. Known for elevating NFT projects and cultivating artistic dialogue through events like JRNY Meets, JRNY Gallery has frequently collaborated with DAM to give digital artists a meaningful platform.
For this inaugural residency exhibition, artists were invited to explore the theme “Brainwaves.” For this occasion I created an artwork that began in a moment of simplicity: sitting by a pond and sketching instinctively, like a child, guided only by the rippling movement of the water. On my way home, I photographed a graffiti-covered statue and torn posters on a nearby wall. These images were scanned in a deliberately distorted, unintelligible manner—resulting in abstract forms that, by chance, resembled frequency waves.
Drawing inspiration from both the pond’s undulating surface and these digital distortions, I merged the images into a single composition. This digital piece was then printed, altered manually, rescanned, and digitally retouched—repeating a cyclical process of transformation between analog and digital.
This fluid exchange between mediums reflects the dual nature of physics: the visible and invisible forces at play. Just as water flows and brainwaves oscillate across unseen frequencies, the work exists in flux—shifting between clarity and ambiguity.
